  • The name says it all. I am into camping hiking and travel when I can. I have never got myself into a survival kind of situation and intend to keep it that way. Having this in my backpack is a bit of security that can get me out of trouble. My thoughts before I bought this.I have nearly run out of water hiking. I saw black pools of goo which aren't usually usable but with this I can use those.I like the Philippines but the tap water isn't good. Flooding is a problem from time to time. This would be useful there.I don't like using bottled water. Wasteful use of plastic. Using tap water is better. My thoughts after buying this.I have tested it with river water in Japan. cleanish looking but I think you would usually get sick.No problems.I have used it with the tap water in Manilla Angeles Subic and Cebu. No problem. It is easy to use but a little bit of practice is required so you get your water into a container and not leaking over you.Its great. You can throw it into your back pack and have a bit a piece of mind that you won't go thirsty pretty much anywhere.
Finally got it to pour water! Well I ordered my own Lifesaver bottle from here and after unpacking it and following the directions I could not for the life of me get water to come out. I just thought this might be due to the carbon filter getting worn in or some other crazy thing. As it turns out after I took the hole thing apart the pump stem was not sealing properly into the base. I adjusted the rubber Oring and gave it a good twist and the bottle finally pressurized. If anyone else is having trouble with the water flow or pressure check the seals.Anyways on to the reviewThe bottle was much larger than I expected which makes it a little more difficult to pack into a backpack. Also the bottle itself even though it's made out of pretty heavy duty plastic just seems really fragile. I think it's my worry of a seal busting when pressurizing the bottle. I wish it would have come with a sleeve to go over the bottle making it a little less conspicuous. I would worry about it getting stolen if it's just hanging on the outside of your pack in many poorer countries. On the up side it seems to filter water perfectly. I'll have to come back and follow up when I travel but it's exactly what is advertised.Follow upAfter getting it working one day later the bottle leaks a significant amount out of the bottom. Will be returning the bottle since I can't just have it in my backpack while it's leaky.Follow up #2Decided to get a replacement instead of just returning it. Bad idea. The second one does the exact same thing. When the bottle is pressurized it leaks out of the bottom like crazy. It's pretty much worthless and 'll be returning this one. I definitely would not recommend this bottle until they perhaps come out with another version.
Best Bottle By Far! I've looked into other things like Steripen's and filtering straws but nothing comes close to filtering as good the Lifesaver Bottle.I had a Steripen for a while but even after use the water still looks pretty sketch unless it is from like a river or stream. The taste isn't always great either. The filtering straws I have found are about as effective as a Pur or Brita filter which wouldn't be bad for tap water but for still water you find in the woods or some of the water from places in Central and South America I wouldn't trust it.The Lifesaver bottle though can take even the most questionable looking water and make it taste as good as my Pur filtered Florida tap water back home. You have to make sure you set it up correctly and run 35 full tanks of water through to get the protective coating off the filter when you first get it DON'T DRINK THIS WATER.After you get it all setup you simply fill and pump.I agree with some of the reviews that say the water tastes a little plasticy which it does at first. My friend has had his bottle for about 6 months though and it doesn't have that taste so I would guess that it just wears off over time.Besides even if it tastes a bit plasticy it probably tastes a hell of a lot better than not filtering it at all.
Provided all my water for 2 months in the Bolivian Amazon If you maintain this bottle well study the quirky instruction manual this thing isn't cheap! it will do better than just about any other product on the market. I say that having used many others and having witnessed lots of other products fail in the silty and highly contaminated environment where this one succeeded for meand it has continued to succeed for a long time. I used it for two months in the Bolivian Amazon as well as two of my friendson the same bottle! and it supplied ALL of my water ~2L/day for me and up to 6L/day in total and didn't require more than a couple of rinses of the dirty water portion while in the field. My field work supervisors were shocked that it worked so well as they had long since given up trying to use pumps of any kind in this location due to the clay and silt. Instead they boiled all their water which resulted in justassilty brown and totally flat and when done on a camp fire smoky but potable water. I'll admit to being lax on maintenance the first two months but I've since come to understand the necessity of keeping the orings greased and free of debris and my bottle is working as well as day 1.ProsCan filter just about any water source and maintain performance though the life of the cartridge will lessen.Has a very high flow rate so filling other containers is fast. You can use it to store water as well.Airtight cap means that when it's sealed it's safe from contamination even if it falls into a river or on the ground. One of the lowest prices/L for filtering solutions if you plan to actually use 4000L within the twoyear life of a cartridge.Durable.Dirty water failsafe means it'll cut off flow before you can drink inadequately filtered water.Cons$150Each cartridge is good for two years from when it is first opened.
Good product in theory but will it ever stop leaking Ok bought this as working in remote area of PNG and water quality is an issue. Packaging fine instructions basic but its not rocket science. Its solidly made although a little heavy but given what it does and its use im happy from that perspective. First fill of unit and water tasted terrible i did a test with rainwater from a tank must be some lubricant for filter or something i purged bottle and refilled and after third refill its fine. The BIGGEST issue is it LEAKS top seal of nozzle is fine.
Push It Real Good This filter has provided plenty of fresh drinking/cooking water on our trips. Pretty user friendly. Kids and adults alike will get a giggle out of it whenever the water pops out of the spout unexpectedly kinda like a jackinthabox effect. Water taste is fine. And more info on inventor of this Lifesaver bottle can be found at [.
Great filter Love it. water is uber clean. no complaints from this filter. would recommend to others and buy another if I need to.
Problems with priming Lifesaver As has been said in previous reviews I couldn't get my Lifesaver bottle to work upon arrival . After reading some negatives reviews I did what was suggested unscrew the plunger mechanism and reseat the Oring . After doing this the Lifesaver water bottle worked perfectly .
WARNING!! This filter has a very limited shelf life! If you are planning on longterm storage of this filter be aware that it has a published look at the small print in the manual shelf life of only 3 years. I've never seen that before. Didn't catch that fact in the product description and details? Hmmmm neither did I. Caveat emptor!! I suggest downloading the manual from the company website. It is very complicated to maintain/store.
Awesome Came on time well packaged and the product itself is amazing. a MUST have for every person on earth. really.

Bottle uses replaceable filters, which can treat up to 4,000 liters of water.Drink filtered water directly from the bottle or filter and store water in other containers.Two-year limited warranty. The lifesaver 4000 ultra filtration water bottle eliminates all microbiological waterborne pathogens from water without chemicals. The bottle treats 750 milliliters of water in just under a minute. The Lifesaver Bottle utilizes failsafe technology to protect you from drinking contaminated water toward the end of the filter cartridge's life. As the cartridge approaches the end of its life, the bottle requires a greater number of pumps to induce water to flow. When no more water can be induced to flow despite continuous pumping, the cartridge has expired and it is time to replace it. In addition to the purification cartridge and carbon filter, the Lifesaver Bottle is supplied with a pre-filter disc. The pre-filter disc protects the membranes of the purification cartridge from objects such as gravel, sand, sticks, and mud, prolonging the overall life of the cartridge. Your pre-filter disc may also be used as a sponge to soak up water from those hard to reach areas like cracks in rocks or shallow puddles. The Lifesaver Bottle is designed not to over-pressurize as a safety feature to prevent injury. Over-pumping the bottle will cause the flip lid to bulge. If pumping continues, then the teat will open and release the water and the pressure.
